Ascenders, a portfolio competition by the Type Directors Club, honors typographic excellence among designers under 35. In the second edition, the concept of ascension is executed via change in scale of the type, leading to a waterfall arrangement as seen in certain type specimens.
The combination of Fadoli and Kern typefaces from Pizza Type yields remarkable typographic layouts across both print and digital media. The website animations, similar to the 2018 edition, are designed in After Effects and exported to html/json via a third-party plugin to retain their vector properties. A seperate/responsive animation is developed for the mobile website.
What Ascenders Means to You segment of the branding gathers responses from the previous winners, wherein they emphasize the significance of receiving the award and express what it personally signifies for them to have achieved it.
